Two Mobility Futures 0∞

Two Mobility Futures 0∞ is a research project developed by the City Science Group at the MIT Media Lab that encompasses storytelling, a democratic decision making platform, a city model, and an immersive exhibit. It was exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 2022, as part of the Motion: Autos, Art, Architecture exhibit curated and designed by Norman Foster.

The installation centers on the relationship between two people that are part of two parallel futures: one where autonomous logistics and infrastructures lead to universally sedentary lifestyles, and another where every aspect of life is in constant motion.

The two stories are displayed in nine vertical screens arranged in a circle, anchored by a miniature city made out of car engine parts. An 8-meter-tall, interactive, LED sculpture responds to the different events in the videos.
