Surviving Hurricane Dorian
While at The New York Times R&D Lab, I helped develop tools that enabled photojournalists to create 3D models from traditional photography using photogrammetry, providing new ways to add spatial context to news stories.
The first published project to use this work documented Hurricane Dorian’s impact on a community in the Bahamas. The interactive New York Times story combined interviews, photography, aerial footage, and a ground-level 3D reconstruction generated from drone imagery.
They Survived Hurricane Dorian. Their Community Will Not.
